Our mission

The mission of the CBAF is to build the best Breakfast & Books Literacy Program we can. We started with three sites on January 4, 2025 with the Total Living Center, Zion's Temple and Union Baptist Church. In March, we added St. Paul AME, Jesus Speaks Ministries and Mt. Zion. We plan to add more sites one at a time.  A special thank you to the pastors and church members who continue to support the program.

Literacy programs

Basic literacy

Every child entering our program their reading and comprehension skills are assessed. Every month they're monitored for improvement. Nothing is left to chance.

Student development

Our Five Pillars of Development:

1. Reading skills

2. Comprehension skills

3. Cognitive thinking skills

4. Social skills

5. Emotional intelligence

Community programs

Parents play an important role in the Breakfast & Books Program.

We want them onsite learning and refining their parenting skills with our adult presenters.

Parents in our program respect teachers. They believe as we do that respect starts at home.

Educational resources

The Breakfast & Books Literacy is educational but best of all it's  fun for the students. They get to meet fascinating people who are teachers, authors, musicians, business owners, politicians, actors, and many more from diverse fields.

According to the Ohio Department of Corrections, 60% of the inmate population do not have a high school diploma.

We focus on students in grades 2nd to fifth in the Breakfast & Books Program.  We want to catch kids early before they become disillusioned.
